High cholesterol levels: here is the method to remedy it quickly



Hypercholesterolemia is a pathology that, only in Italy, affects 3 out of 5 patients. It is a pathology that could represent a serious problem for our health, since it involves the formation of plaques that will be deposited along the walls of the arteries going to decrease the diameter of the casing and, consequently, to limit the flow of oxygenated blood towards the tissues. A good part of the patients suffering from this pathology have inherited it from their parents or other relatives, it is estimated to be around 30% but, in most cases, it stems from years and years in which poor eating habits and no type of physical activity practiced made him a master.

For those who suffer from it, nutritionists advise in the first place to totally eliminate all typical “fast food” dishes, because these junk foods are full of fats and sugars ready to stick to the arteries of adults and young children. In addition, the consumption of alcohol and tobacco must also be limited, since the substances they contain, in addition to being highly carcinogenic, lower the levels of HDL (the good cholesterol) present in the blood and increase those of LDL (the bad cholesterol). ). Obviously, this is only the first step, there are many other precautions that we must learn to cherish.

Perhaps most important is to start consuming lots of fiber. Fiber is mainly found in cereals such as oats, spelled or barley; these can really help us to fight high cholesterol because they suppress the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine. Along with an increase in fiber, in our daily diet we should eliminate the intake of certain fats that on the contrary increase the level of cholesterol in the blood, for example the fats present in sausages and fried foods. These should be replaced by the so called “good fats” which are contained in fish, nuts or extra virgin olive oils. Last but not least is physical activity.

This is necessary to activate our metabolism so that we can get rid of all that superfluous fat which, without activity, would be deposited in different areas of our body, including the arteries, forming the famous atherosclerotic plaques. Experts point out that these indications are only able to provide us with results if they are carried out simultaneously: if we practice physical activity but follow an unbalanced diet we still have a very high risk of hypercholesterolemia.
