Thus, Italy will remember the day when the first female Prime Minister in the history of the Italian Republic went to President Sergio Mattarella to receive the task of forming the government.

The interview lasts an hour, then Zampetti’s announcement: “The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella received the Honorable Giorgia Meloni to whom he entrusted the task. The Honorable Giorgia Meloni accepted and presented the list of ministers”.

The president of the Brothers of Italy had already announced in recent days that the center-right was ready to govern. And in fact, he accepts the mission without reservation, handing over the government proposal to Mattarella, with the official list of center-right ministers.

Mattarella thanks the outgoing government

“This time the time was short, less than a month has passed since the duration of the elections: it was possible for the clarity of the electoral result and it was necessary to proceed quickly also taking into account the internal and international conditions, which require a government in the fullness of its duties”. Thus, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, after having entrusted the task to Meloni: “The outgoing government, within the exact three months from the date of the dissolution of the Chambers , responded to the leadership needs of the country, concluding its activity with the European Council, I thank him once again”.

Finally, he concludes: “In the same spirit of collaboration, I offer my best wishes to the new government which, as of tomorrow morning, after being sworn in, will begin to carry out its work”.
