George RR Martin, author of “Game of Thrones”, announced in an interview with Penguin Random House that he was collaborating with Warner Bros. in a new animated film based on the short story ‘The Ice Dragon’.
Martin said Warner Bros. The animation acquires the rights to adapt one of its first short stories, ‘The Ice Dragon’, published in 1978. The children’s tale will be adapted into an animated film, and has nothing to do with the universe of Westeros, where the most popular works take place, known to the writer.
“Some of you may know that I sometimes wrote other books that weren’t part of Westeros or this story. And one of them that I wrote in 1978 was a story about a dragon, an ice dragon, and it’s called The Ice Dragon. Just a little story, like I said. It’s mostly a children’s story, but let’s do it. [em um filme]said Martin.
“Warner Bros. Animation has bought the rights to it, and we’re going to expand it into a fully animated movie…hopefully a movie that will be released in a theater near you, and David Anthony Durham will write the scenario. And he better do a good job! [risos]“, he concludes.
In the plot of the book, a young woman named Adara secretly befriends a rare ice dragon. When the dragon army invades your city, only your friend can help you save the world from total destruction.

The book was written in 1980, before the saga that would give birth to the HBO series “Game of Thrones”. The animated film does not yet have a release date.
