The TV series based on ‘Twisted Metal’ has already closed tapings. The Peacock production doesn’t yet have a premiere date, but it does have a solid cast, led by Anthony Mackie (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier“).
The news was confirmed by producer Michael Jonathan, who also revealed the small gift the crew received while filming. See (via Collider):

Besides Mackie’s presence, the cast includes Stephanie Beatriz, Neve Campbell, Thomas Haden Church, and Will Arnett, among others.
Kitao Sakurai will direct several episodes.
The plot follows a stranger who is blessed with a better life, but only if he successfully delivers a mysterious package to a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a car thief, he will face wild marauders driving destruction vehicles and other road hazards, including a crazy clown driving an ice cream truck, which fans of the game call “Sweet Tooth“.

The screenplay is by Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai“).
The first game in the “Twisted Metal” franchise was released in 1995, followed by several sequels and spin-offs. At one point, a movie based on the game with the “Ghost Rider” director was in development, but the project never took off.
