Fans of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise may be excited, as plans for the ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ spin-off sequel take shape, with their screenplay already being written. The information was shared by producer Hiram Garcia in a recent interview with ComicBook.com.
At the time, Garcia also reflected on how the “ Fast and Furious ” universe works together, with the spinoff not being something separate, but correlating with the larger franchise:
“We are always thinking of the future and at the moment we are already developing the streak. And in fact, we have a very good history when it comes to planning. Chris Morgan writes, and I think that’s the beauty, it’s the Fast and Furious universe, right? I think it’s not so much about separation or whatever, they all fall under the umbrella of the Fast and Furious universe. This is the mother ship. But obviously this franchise is so loved and has so many fans, and there are so many stories to tell ”.
Garcia went even further and commented on the details of the plans for the continuation of “ Hobbs & Shaw ”:
“For us, we 100% want to do our part: to continue telling this story by venturing with Hobbs. He’ll always be connected to these guys and we’ll have to find out how these things come together, but we’re booming. We have a great story, a great fun story. Chris Morgan is a brilliant screenwriter and he’s taken this universe in such different directions before. But surely it continues, we just had a conversation about this right before you and I spoke. And I’m very excited about where the plot is heading, but we’ll keep pushing. We know what the fans wanted, the first movie was well received and that’s what we needed to know – that the fans would love to have more, so that’s what we’re going to deliver ”.
Remembering that ‘Fast and Furious 9’ opens on June 25, 2021.
