exclusive interview with Alessandra Cappiello

Alessandra Cappiello, brilliant Creative Director of Morfosis, has for years wondered in her collections what makes the female personality unique. It is a deep investigation that goes beyond the ephemeral fashions of the moment. The designer has chosen to unveil her new Morfosis Imperzioni 9 Fall/Winter 22/23 collection with an exclusive show in the sumptuous Galleria del Cardinale Colonna.
In the presence of celebrities, culture and entertainment personalities such as Anna Falchi, Eugenia Costantini, Liliana Fiorelli, Angelica Giusto, Grazia Schiavo, Lucia Mascino, Sofia Taglioni, Iacopo Rampini, Sunday October 9, 2022, in the prestigious halls of the Palace historic Colonna, is an organized event that had the applause of three hundred people who came for the special occasion. On the catwalks are creations reminiscent of the Italian spirit, in limited editions, made to measure, with a frantic search for the particular. It is no coincidence that the brand has dressed celebrities of the caliber of Måneskin, Madonna, Laura Pausini, Sabrina Ferilli, Nina Zilli, Alessandra Amoroso. At the end of the show we caught up with Alessandra Cappiello for an exclusive interview for VelvetMAG.

Alessandra Cappiello Morfosis Imperfections 9: my idea of beauty
This constant aesthetic research reappears alive in her, which flees the ephemeral fashions of the moment, but is a deep, obsessive investigation, anchored on a solid base to cling to. How did you manage to translate all of this into the clothes we saw on the catwalk?
The fundamental theme of my works is the beauty that each of us possesses. The Morfosis Imperfezioni 9 collection is sophisticated, refined in materials with lines that are easy to wear by a wide audience, with a particular and I dare say furious search for detail. It’s in the interpretation and in the way everyone combines clothes and finds the winning formula of beauty. The new fashion proposals are designed to obtain a multiplicity of different combinations. The color reference is simple and intuitive.
Made in Italy is the hallmark and distinctive strength of its brand.
My works are the result of the expression of pure Italian craftsmanship. Some items are limited edition. Each creation has only a few repetitions. I used vintage buttons in the new Morfosis Imperzioni 9 collection. I did a maximum of two identical layers.

Is there a brand commitment to the issue of sustainable development?
Our company has embraced the theme of sustainability by adopting the policy of preferring quality over quantity. Sustainable clothing helps the planet get rid of clothes.
Sophisticated and never banal creations appear in Imperfections 9, is it difficult to transpose all this on the catwalk?
The mantra of my work is not to be perfect, but the uniqueness of each of us not wanting to fit. It is always the awareness of imperfection that characterizes the human being in its most intrinsic and deepest nature, the strength of the Morfosis woman is the leitmotif of the collection.
We observed looks with an expressive color palette.
The choice fell on vibrant tones: fuchsia, pink, red, green, yellow, to close with dark tones like blue and black.

The fabrics in detail?
Velvets and silks are flanked by the lightness of lace and the textures of precious jacquard, where rose shoots embrace and patterns overlap, blending to create elegant and always biting looks on every occasion, this time also for brides.
When you create, do you have an already defined femininity in mind?
Sometimes in my investigations I was influenced by the wife of Elsa Schiaparelli. Curiosity is fundamental in a woman, but also awareness of the past. This new collection is beautiful and portable, usable in many occasions. There are clothes that can accompany us from morning to night.
Speaking of history, head back to Palazzo Colonna after the summer presentation at the Coffee House. This time, however, he chooses to exhibit in the 18th century Galleria del Cardinale, what fascinates you about this residence?
The beauty of Palazzo Colonna is the most appropriate and representative backdrop for the new Morfosis Impezioni 9 collection.
These days, her Morfosis Imperzioni 9 garments are also available at Coin Excelsior in Rome’s Prati district.
Since last October 3, it is possible to find a pop-up store of the new Morfosis Imperfezioni 9 collection. Exclusively at Coin Excelsior, there will be a selection of clothes. I am very satisfied and curious to check the public’s approval of how my product will be received. Our exclusive style in continuity with the craftsmanship, the manual skills and the preciousness of the past, the research of the details of the materials are the result of a collaboration with the best European artisans and workshops and tend towards the goal of a final product which is never predictable, absolutely not approved.
