Foundation Season 3 Release Date Speculation

We all are waiting for the release date of Foundation season 3. The streaming platform Apple TV+ didn’t announce the renewal of the series. The second season of Foundation premiered on July 14, 2023. It takes time to renew a show for another season.

That’s likely the case with Foundation too. This doesn’t mean that we won’t get another season. We are just waiting for the renewal. If the show is renewed soon, we can expect it to be released by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

These are just speculations though. The official decision of the renewal is in the hands of the streaming platform Apple TV+. The ending of the second season clearly opens up the doors for another season. 

The Team Addressed Foundation Season 3 Renewal Rumors

There were rumors about the renewal of Foundation season 3. But the creator David S. Goyer didn’t make a comment on the renewal and said that season three’s happening depends upon the second season. 

David said, “We just put the finishing touches on season two around a month ago [May 2023], and so much of what happens with season three will depend on how well this season is received in the first few weeks.”

In fact, even the actors in the show addressed the rumors. Llobell said, “I don’t know who started that rumor. But I hope it’s true.” Leah Harvey added, “I actually can’t talk about that. I don’t know if season three is on the way.”

What To Expect From Foundation Season 3?

While we are waiting on the renewal of the series, we have other updates for you. Foundation season 3 will likely pick up from where the second season concluded. In addition, according to reports we’d get to watch a whole different story with plots if there’s a new season ahead. 

Goyer said, “I thought it was really important to give some of the characters like Bel, Hober, and Constant lovely closure. I adore all those characters, I adore Bel and I adore Hober. But I also felt the fact that they have that fate together at the end felt like the right way to end the story.”

Foundation Season 3 Will Be All About ‘The Mule’

Goyer hinted a little more about Foundation season 3. He said that The Mule will be shown in the third season of Foundation. According to Goyer, they had to earn The Mule and therefore season three is the perfect season for that.

The official statement of Goyer reads, “[W]hen I met with Apple and Amazon and all the various people that wanted to do the show, everyone said, ‘When are we gonna get The Mule? When are we gonna get The Mule?’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry, but we’re not getting The Mule until Season 3.’

I think the reason why The Mule was shocking to me when I read the original books, is because he comes out of nowhere and he completely T-bones psycho-history and T-bones Hari’s [Seldon, played by Jared Harris] plan, and just puts everything into this immense upheaval, and it was shocking. 

And if we had started with that, it wouldn’t be shocking. And so I said, ‘We really have to earn The Mule. So you’re not going to get The Mule till Season 3.’ I figured out a tricky way to introduce The Mule in Season 2 but look, Season 3 is all about The Mule. The mule is here, and what’s exciting about The Mule is all bets are off.”

The statement clearly displays that the third season will be all about The Mule. It’s going to be a hell of a ride for the characters.
