Prince Charles (Dominic West) pressures his mother to agree to a divorce from Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), setting the stage for a constitutional crisis in the monarchy. The increasingly separated life between husband and wife fuels much gossip. As media scrutiny intensifies, Diana decides to take control of the situation and breaks the family rules by publishing a book that threatens Carlo’s public support and exposes the differences within the House of Windsor. Tensions rise when Mohamed Al Fayed (Salim Daw) enters the scene who, driven by a desire to be accepted by the nobility, takes advantage of the wealth and power he has acquired on his own to secure a seat in the royal table for him and his son Dodi (Khalid Abdalla).

The reactions to the trailer

Highly anticipated, the trailer for The Crown 5 anticipates the contrasts that definitively marked the royal family during the 1990s. Starting from the famous Annus Horribilis, 1992 – thus renamed by Queen Elizabeth II herself – the fifth season will in the face of the gradual loss of public consent to the English monarchy. And it will do so with an exceptional cast which, already from the trailer – embellished with a suggestive cover of the bittersweet symphony of The Verve – has already won over the public. In particular, Internet users seem to agree, paradoxically, on the two historical “rivals”, namely Lady Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles, played respectively by Elizabeth Debicki and Olivia Williams. “They fit perfectly”, there are those who comment under the post that appeared on the official page of Netflix Italy. “Diana and Camilla are awesome,” someone else wrote. In short, soaring hype for one of the most beloved – and most talked about – series of recent years.
