According to Variety, Warner Bros has confirmed the premiere of “ Cry Macho, ” a new western drama directed by Clint Eastwood, on October 22, 2021.
In addition to hitting US theaters, the feature will also be available in the HBO Max catalog on the same day.
Based on the novel of the same name written by N. Richard Nash in 1975, the screenplay was cut by Nick Schenk (“ Gran Torino ”) based on sketches developed by Nash himself, who died in 2000.
The plot follows a racehorse breeder and former rodeo star who agrees to transport a young man from Mexico to Texas, away from his alcoholic mother.
During the journey, the two develop an unexpected bond and learn a lot from each other, and the tired world rider can find his own sense of redemption by teaching the boy what it means to be a good man.
In addition to directing, Eastwood will also star, with Eduardo Minett and Dwight Yoakam
The veteran also enters as a producer alongside Al Ruddy, Jessica Meier and Tim Moore.
