Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, the filmmaker behind ‘Purple Hearts’ (in the original), revealed to Variety that she and star Sofia Carson are already in talks about making ‘Continue to Love 2’, a sequel to the romance that was an unexpected hit on Netflix.
Although Rosenbaum stressed that nothing is definitive yet, she seemed excited by the possibility.
“I could watch Sofia and Nicholas [Galitzine] act together all day. And they’re great people to work with, so I’m not going to say ‘no’ to that,” admits the filmmaker.
Which went on to say, “We’re only going to do this when we find something we really like, because we want to keep the integrity of the story. We haven’t come to anything specific yet, but it is always a possibility.
“Fans are asking for a sequel, sort of. There are so many theories and stories and spinoffs popping up because of course we want to think about a life for Cassie and Luke beyond this movie. I love it play with her, so she was curious too.

Addressing right-wing and left-wing political views in mostly indirect ways, the production also briefly reflects on the extremist stances on both sides and how the line separating the two contrasts is thinner than it seems. Wasting no screen time with unnecessary ramblings on this topic, Kyle Jarrow and Liz W. Garcia’s screenplay provides a metaphor for love in these polarized times, as it sets out to tell a delicate and symbolic story. on family restoration, beginnings, healing and redemption. .
Bringing in some of the elements that make up the traditional hero’s journey, Continência ao Amor pays homage to American troops – constantly drawn to incomprehensible wars – and makes music an unexpected detail that sets the tone and pace of the plot. With Sofia Carson showing off her talent in original songs, the drama juxtaposes two very different characters united by a love never expected.
And rocking the public until its last minutes, Continência ao Amor is a refreshment that still allows itself to bring precious lessons on life together and the meaning of family. Formulated but still identifiable, the new Netflix Original may not break new ground in the romantic drama genre, but it invigorates cheesy ways with preciousness and plenty of charisma.
