‘Chucky’: ‘Killer Toy’ Series to Star Gay

SyFy has revealed some news for the ‘Killer Toy’ series, which marks the return of the iconic and deadly Chucky doll.

Franchise creator Don Mancini revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con panel that the show’s protagonist will be gay.

Star Jake (played by Zackary Arthur) will have cute and romantic scenes with her boyfriend, called Devon.

“There are a lot of beautiful and powerful scenes between Zackary Arthur, playing Jake, and her friend and boyfriend, Devon, played by actor Björgvin Arnarson,” Mancini said.

The franchise has raised the LGBTQIA + flag on several occasions, including when Chucky’s son is revealed to be non-binary in “Son of Chucky” in 2004.

The series premiere is scheduled for October 12 in the United States, with no release scheduled in Brazil yet.

Brad Dourif returns to voice the killer puppet. The production also includes the return of Fiona Dourif (‘The Cult of Chucky’) and Jennifer Tilly, as well as the introduction of newcomers Devon Sawa (‘Premonition’), Zackary Arthur (‘Transparent’), Barbara Alyn Woods (‘ One Tree Hill ‘), Lexa Doig (‘ Jason X ‘), Teo Briones (‘ Ratched ‘), Bjorgvin Arnarson (‘ PEN15 ‘) and Alyvia Alyn Lind.

After a classic Chucky doll appears at a secondhand sale in a suburban neighborhood, an idyllic American town is plunged into chaos after a series of gruesome murders uncovered the hypocrisies and secrets of its inhabitants. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies – and allies – from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the deaths, as well as the demonic puppet’s origins.

In an interview with Syfy Wire, Mancini gave new details about the series, revealing that the iconic villain will have a different focus in the new production.

“With this series, our mission is to preserve the tense atmosphere of the original film. But at the same time, keep building on the plot we’ve built over the seven movies we’ve released over the past 30 years. I think fans are going to love the new characters that we have introduced in production and also the return of other familiar characters. Not only will it be Chucky, but we will also have the return of other characters that fans want to see again. Chances are they will show up.

He adds, “I think people will find it interesting that Chucky uses his skills. It’s important to give Chucky new weapons, strategies, goals, and targets. The character will have a different purpose in the series – something never seen before. ”
