Paramount + recently revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for her roles in ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘The Old Guard’, was listed in the serial reboot of the classic ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’.
Ejiofor will bring to life the title role, a humanoid alien who stumbles upon our planet in search of water to take to the homeland. The new story will expand on the mythology featured in the 1976 feature film.
Alex Kurtzman, showrunner for “Star Trek: Discovery,” and Jenny Lumet are responsible for script and executive production. Kurtzman also enters as the director of several episodes.
Rola Bauer, Tim Halkin, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Heather Kadin will be the producers.
The original film starred music icon David Bowie and was based on the novel of the same name by Walter Tevis. Nicolas Roeg led the project, which won a television version in 1987.
“The Man Who Fell to Earth” is one of a series of original CBS All Access productions including “The Good Fight“, “Beyond Imagination”, “No Activity”, “Strange Angel” and “Tell Me a Story” . Recently, new shows like “Why Women Kill,” which premiered in August this year, and “The Dance of Death,” based on the Stephen King novel, were announced to the public.
