“Black Adam” is in theaters now and promises to further expand the DC Universe. However, the iconic anti-hero (played by Dwayne Johnson) should have made his Hall of Fame debut in another film.
In an interview with The Wrap, producer Hiram Garcia, Johnson’s collaborator, revealed that the character would appear in the post-credits scenes of Suicide Squad in 2016. However, the idea was ultimately scrapped.
“There were talks about it being used at the end of something, but those were just talks and there’s a lot of ‘dieting’,” he said.
Have fun watching:
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film only has an approval rating of 54%, with a rating of 5.40/10 based on 87 reviews to date. Pundits praised the action scenes, but criticized the pacing, script, and even some special effects.
Check out the main comments:
“The effects are fake and weightless even for this stuff, and the risks are non-existent” – The Playlist.
“Dwayne Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra attempt to come up with a unified grand DC theory, blending familiar movie tropes with a protagonist who kills people on the spot. The result is sometimes a mess, but overall it’s fun” – Empire.
“There’s not a single character here that doesn’t look like a cheap photocopy of Gotham or the MCU” – indieWire.
“It’s fun and never dull, but it’s also wise to move fast enough to distract viewers from the questions it raises” – United Press International.
“[O filme] is packed with undeveloped characters and an inordinate number of repetitive action scenes, so much so that its incomplete discussion of what it means to be a hero gets lost in all the noise” – IGN Movies.
Nearly 5,000 years after being gifted with the omnipotent powers of the Egyptian gods – and just as quickly arrested – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
The film will also star Justice Society members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Crusher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Águas Rasas’), the feature film will take place in the same universe as ‘Shazam!’.
