The Starz channel has officially canceled the historical drama “Becoming Elizabeth”, a series that tells the conflicted story of the iconic English monarch Elizabeth I, after just one season.
According to Deadline, the series had an audience of just 158,000 viewers when it debuted, and the numbers have dropped further as the weeks go by. Overall, the production maintained an average of 0.01 in the demo, with only the first two episodes exceeding 0.02.
Starring Alicia von Rittberg, the work followed the youth of orphan Elizabeth Tudor long before she ascended the throne, amid the complex and unpredictable political and matrimonial plots of royalty.
Have fun watching:
The eight-episode series also stars Romola Garai as Mary Tudor; Jessica Raine as Catherine Parr; Tom Cullen as Thomas Seymour; Jamie Blackley as Robert Dudley; and Bella Ramsey as Jane Grey.
It should be noted that the “Becoming Elizabeth” universe is very dangerous and bloody; a time when every man or woman in the court is on the wheel of fortune, which can lead them to a position of great power one moment, or the executioner’s crosshairs the next. Judgments are made quickly and no one is immune.
