“Batgirl”: Incredible fan art features Dylan O’Brien as Nightwing alongside the heroine; Check!

Nightwing fans have been campaigning for years to have Dylan O’Brien (“Maze Runner”) cast in a live-action version of the hero.

And many wanted the star to take on the role in future sequels to the “Batgirl” adaptation.

However, since the film ended up being canceled, the idea is even further from happening.

Even so, one Instagram user shared realistic fan art depicting O’Brien in hero costume alongside Leslie Grace as Batgirl.

Following the cancellation of “Batgirl,” Grace and directors Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah (“Bad Boys For Life”) lamented the decision in a cordial tone despite their shock.

However, not all of the cast members managed to maintain polite demeanor.

In a statement shared by IndieWire, an actor who refused to reveal his identity spoke out about the cancellation and insulted David Zaslav, the current chairman of Warner Bros. Discovery and directly responsible for the decision.

“The multiple streaming platforms and their vague guarantees seem anything but secure. I’m very offended by what happened and I feel bad for the directors and Leslie Grace, who are great people I’ve worked with, and all the technicians. It was a huge and rewarding challenge to make this film during the pandemic and during the cold Glasgow weather. But none of that matters to an asshole like David Zaslav. Your cowardice is breathtaking. I’m glad I was a part of it and wish the best to everyone involved – with the exception of Warner Bros. executives. But they will all be replaced sooner or later.

In addition to Grace, the cast of the adaptation would also include Brendan Fraser (Firefly), Michael Keaton (Batman), JK Simmons (James Gordon), Jacob Scipio (Anthony Bressi), Ivory Aquino (Alysia Yeoh), Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson and Ethan Kai.

So far, it’s unclear if the line came from one of the main stars or from an additional or stunt double.

Although some believe that the narrative written by Christina Hodson did not sit well with studio executives, that is not true.

According to GQ, it’s been reported that the idea didn’t pan out because its smaller scale and budget don’t fit with plans for future DC Comics movies, which will be set as major events.

And that means other low-cost projects in development by the studio may be frozen and therefore canceled.

That’s because Warner Bros. is going through a period of change and twists and turns behind the scenes due to the merger with Discovery.

In fact, several high-profile executives left WarnerMedia due to the brand merger, including President Jason Kilar and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Andy Forssell.

Kilar’s departure reflects executives’ intolerance of ill-conceived ideas, as Kilar himself admitted that it was a bad strategy to release major productions to theaters and HBO Max at the same time, such as “Godzilla vs. and “The Suicide Squad”. .

And Zaslav is already considering ending HBO MAX and creating a new streaming platform.

But until then, Warner is already removing several titles from the HBO Max catalog and will not continue with its initial projects.

Apparently, the studio’s current content strategy doesn’t involve spending large sums on direct streaming resources, as was the case with “Batgirl,” which cost $90 million.

Given recent reports of business decisions from Warner Bros. Discovery, with the company apparently looking to cut $3 billion from its budget, would explain the unprecedented cancellations.

The studio has already cut scripted programming on the TNT and TBS cable networks in the United States, going so far as to cancel series hours before the season premiere.

Still, the decision to cancel high-profile movies in the process — including a long-awaited DC Universe adaptation — is still SHOCKING.
