Angelina Jolie and Amnesty International urge children to learn about their rights
Written in collaboration with Professor Geraldine Van Bueren, editor-in-chief of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, this volume is an excellent source of knowledge and not only for the youngest. Regarding the new project, Angelina Jolie said: “If governments kept their word and if adults respected the rights of minors, there would be no need for this book. Boys and girls have rights like adults and must have the power and knowledge to claim them”. The Hollywood actress then added: “This is a book that some adults would not want children to read, because it gives them the knowledge to defend their rights and those of others.”

Signed by various authors, this volume illustrates the basic concepts of children’s rights and the intention of the authors is to publish this volume in all languages and in all States to help millions of boys and girls on the subject . Angela Jolie went on to explain, “In 1989 governments put their commitments to upholding children’s rights to paper, but many of them still don’t listen to the voices of boys and girls. In some states, nine-year-old girls are forced into marriage. Worldwide, more than 61 million girls and boys do not attend primary school. In 2019, one in six boys or girls lived in conditions of extreme poverty and this proportion has risen sharply during the pandemic”.
