Defend your rights! A Guide for Boys and Girls is a new volume resulting from the collaboration between Angelina Jolie and Amnesty International. The aim of the volume, published in Italy by Feltrinelli, is to explain to boys and girls around the world what their rights are at stake and how to defend them.

Angelina Jolie is always ready to defend the rights in which she firmly believes and she recently proved it through a book. Working with Amnesty International, the Hollywood diva has reached out to boys and girls around the world to protect their rights. From November 8, 2022, Defend your rights! was also released in Italy! A guide for girls and boys published by Feltrinelli through which the actress reminds the world of the importance of the rights and protection of minors.

By joining forces, the actress and Amnesty International have published a kind of guide so that young people are informed and know their rights. Only then will they be able to fight and oppose injustice. The volume, in effect, explains what rights are at stake, providing the new generation with all the knowledge they need to protect their own rights and those of others.

Written in collaboration with Professor Geraldine Van Bueren, editor-in-chief of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, this volume is an excellent source of knowledge and not only for the youngest. Regarding the new project, Angelina Jolie said: “If governments kept their word and if adults respected the rights of minors, there would be no need for this book. Boys and girls have rights like adults and must have the power and knowledge to claim them”. The Hollywood actress then added: “This is a book that some adults would not want children to read, because it gives them the knowledge to defend their rights and those of others.”

Signed by various authors, this volume illustrates the basic concepts of children’s rights and the intention of the authors is to publish this volume in all languages ​​and in all States to help millions of boys and girls on the subject . Angela Jolie went on to explain, “In 1989 governments put their commitments to upholding children’s rights to paper, but many of them still don’t listen to the voices of boys and girls. In some states, nine-year-old girls are forced into marriage. Worldwide, more than 61 million girls and boys do not attend primary school. In 2019, one in six boys or girls lived in conditions of extreme poverty and this proportion has risen sharply during the pandemic”.

The volume also tells stories of incredible young people, as well as activists and activists leading change in favor of human rights, such as the fight against climate change and gun violence.
