The American box office came to life this weekend! In addition to the fantastic debut of “A Quiet Place 2,” which grossed nearly $ 60 million, the live action of “Cruella” also impressed with $ 26.5 million over the extended weekend.
Keep in mind that the feature was released simultaneously on the Disney + streaming service, for an additional fee from Premier Access.
‘Cruella’ seems to have pleased audiences, receiving an A from its viewers. Shown on 3,892 screens, the production averaged US $ 6,800 per cinema.
Tony Chambers, Head of Global Distribution at Disney, said: “This weekend was our first experience going back to theaters and putting security in place. The audience watched the trailer for the blockbusters coming out this summer. It’s an invitation for them to come back and watch more movies.

Revision | CRUELLA is a visual blast that gives us the real Disney villain
‘Cruella’, the new live-action film presents the story of the legendary and most iconic – and notoriously fashionable – Disney villain Cruella de Vil. Set in 1970s London in the midst of the punk rock revolution, the film features a young con artist named Estella (Emma Stone), a smart and creative girl determined to make a name for herself through her designs. She befriends a couple of young thieves and together they make a life in the streets of London. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion caught the attention of Baroness Von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a terribly chic and spooky fashion legend. But their relationship sets off a series of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her rebellious side and become the wicked, elegant, revenge-oriented Cruella.
Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry, Emily Beecham and Kirby Howell-Baptiste complete the cast.
Craig Gillespie, from the remake of ‘The Hour of Amazement’, takes over from a script by Tony McNamara (‘The Favorite’).
