Damian Lewis Is Returning To ‘Billions’ For Season 7
Money just walked in!
We all remember that after the sixth season, Lewis left the show and Corey Stoll took over as Mike Prince. However, it has recently been confirmed that Damian Lewis will return in the seventh season of Billions.
Lewis revealed this to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. He said, “Bobby’s back. Axe is back, and it’s exciting. He’s not been around for a couple of seasons.”
Brian Koppelman, the show’s co-creator, previously spoke to an outlet about the characters’ goodbyes and hellos. He said, “The goodbyes on Billions and the hellos on Billions are never permanent; nothing is etched in stone.”
Levien said to Forbes, “We were initially focused on hedge fund billionaires who were press-shy and didn’t want to be written up for being so rich. We’ve seen a shift to a more public style of a billionaire who wants to influence the public discourse. That’s where Mike Prince comes from.”
There Could Be More Season Of ‘Billions’
Koppelman also said, “What is happening is part of an evolution which started when we were examining a certain kind of billionaire. We wanted to see if there can be such a thing as a billionaire who isn’t a drain on society. Is it possible to be a beneficent figure in that position?”
David Levien added, “When we started the show, we were very much captivated by silent hedge fund guys trading stocks, trying to stay in the shadows and not become famous.
Over the years, we’ve seen people use their prominence and their wealth in the public space to try and move discourse and use that as an extra source of power.”
“Chuck Rhoades sees something that offended him and felt betrayed in a certain way,” Levien added. “Mike Prince sees somebody in his way. So we’re already at a place where it’s personal by nature — they’re two alphas going for the same patch of turf.”
Brian Koppelman teased that the show might run for more seasons. He said, “We’re still really engaged. We love the way the season ends, and we feel it gives us plenty of runway moving forward.”
