‘Avatar 2’ gets a new teaser with 2 MONTHS to go

“Avatar 2: Water Way” will finally hit theaters on December 16 this year, 13 years after the original was released.

And two months from the premiere, a new teaser has been released.

Despite expectations, Variety reported that the sequel is expected to gross less than its predecessor by the end of its run at the domestic box office, in the United States, and in Canada.

Projections indicate that the new movie should close with around $650 million in the region.

The first film earned $772 million domestically.

Of course, you have to take into account that the original was recently re-released and has already grossed over $30.5 million in countries where it’s being re-released, including the United States and Canada.

If the projections hold true, that means ‘Avatar 2: The Water Way’ might not become the highest-grossing title released in 2022.

Currently, this brand belongs to “Top Gun: Maverick”, which grossed $700 million in North America and $1.5 billion worldwide.

More than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of the Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their children), the problems that accompany them, the efforts that they do to protect, the fights they fight for survival and the tragedies they endure.

Directed by James Cameron, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Winslet.

James Cameron has been developing the sequels for over a decade. The studio has announced four “Avatar” sequels, two of which have already been filmed and the other two are awaiting box office results. The filmmaker shot the two films back to back due to the way the scenes needed to be captured.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022, and ‘Avatar 3’ is set to open two years later on December 20, 2024. We can only wait!
