5 Outfit Tips For Your First Music Festival

Published

Music Festival

Every year in the US, tens of thousands of people (if not more) enjoy attending music festivals. You don’t have to go to many to realise that the fashion statements are often as loud as the music. Want to look amazing the next time you hit a festival? You’re not alone! But a few smart tips can help you rock through your first festival in comfort as well as style.

1) Pamper Your Feet

Committing to a pair of uncomfortable shoes is, sadly, a mistake that entirely too many festival-goers make. Bear in mind that you’re probably going to be on your feet all day, and also likely walking a lot. Shoes with a poor fit, weak support, or a lack of padding will add unpleasant features like blisters and foot pain to your festival experience. Don’t be afraid to turn up in sneakers if that’s what’s most comfortable — you can still colour-coordinate with the rest of your outfit!

2) Strike A Balance Between Comfort And Couture

A music festival is a big event, and you’ll be tempted to go all-out with your outfit. Keep in mind the duration of the festival before you pick out something stunning but restrictive! Dress for comfort so that you can enjoy the entire show, not just the first hour.

3) Keep Your Accessories Light

While accessories make the look, they can also get pretty heavy. When you’re dressing for a festival, bear in mind that you’re going to be on your feet and moving all day. Also, it’s unlikely that you’ll find a safe place to drop any heavy or binding accessories; you’ll want to hang onto them throughout the festival. So keep it light! Glow sticks are a fantastic accessory!

4) Remember Sun Protection

Although this doesn’t apply to every music festival, enough of them take place in direct sunlight that you should plan for sun protection. Don’t assume you’ll be able to spend the day in the shade! Pack sunblock no matter what the weather forecast looks like. You might also want to consider UV-resistant clothes, including hats, tops, and sunglasses.

5) Dress In Layers

To keep yourself comfortable on a long festival day, you want to have clothing options. Dress in multiple layers so that you can warm up or cool down as necessary. Even at a summer festival, it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket in case the weather turns on you.
