Worms found in this jam – here’s which brand

Parents let their children eat at school, thinking they would eat tasty food and eat healthily, but that’s what happened in two school canteens. Again, and after a few months, a worm was found in the dishes of children from two schools in Milan. This time, however, it is not about the presence of worms in vegetable soup, but about jars of jam served as a snack in primary schools and in institutes for the education of disabled children.

To be precise, these are two packs of organic apricot jam which were distributed at snack time on the same day in two schools: in a primary school and in a specialized school for disabled children. Quite indignant at what happened, the municipal and regional councilor expressly said the exact words: “It is frankly an absolutely indecent fact that there has been no comment from the Municipality for this umpteenth confirmation of poor service to say the least. The reports of the canteen commissions are constantly considered superficial and not listened to and parents are increasingly concerned about a manifestly unacceptable food offer”.

For its part, the company responsible for the distribution of these foods in the various schools, indicated that the block relating to the batch of the product had been arranged and the observations made were quickly communicated to the responsible supplier. At the same time, the non-compliant packages were also recovered and immediately sent to the entomology laboratory, in order to identify the non-compliance. These are essentially worms which, already present in the fruit at the time of harvest, have accidentally escaped the long and complex chain of custody.

In fact, the producer believes that these foreign bodies arrived with the fresh raw material, inside an apricot drupe, escaping, unfortunately for them, the many sorting phases present in the chain. Because of this, he thinks it was an absolutely accidental episode just like it had happened before with the spelled soup. The Milanese company also recalls that, in this specific case, it was extra apricot jam from organic farming in individual portions, which is only opened when the snack is consumed, since these packaging is however unfortunately not they can be inspected from the outside.
