It’s unanimous: the telenovela ‘Pantanal’ has become one of Rede Globo’s biggest hits, even though it was an adaptation of a previous version. Many characters mark people’s minds: the agricultural worker Trindade and his pact with the cramulhão, Maria Bruaca and the female force to end domestic violence and, of course, Juma Marruá, the woman who becomes a jaguar and don’t go home. The truth is that if we leave the urban centers and go into the interior of the countries, we find many scattered Jumas, living and surviving, despite the world. And the story of one of these “Jumas” is the movie “A Place Far Away From Here”, which successfully debuted on HBO Max.

Fortunately, because the actress’ commitment to making this project a reality made all the difference in the story getting the support it needed.
And it really is a very moving story, which deserved to be shown on the big screen. Olivia Newman’s direction uses sentiment in every sequence, taking the best from her cast that imprints the right sentiments so the viewer knows very clearly who they should love. The aerial shots in nature, the exploration of shadows and lights, the movement of animals, all this is transposed into the feature film in an immersive and engaging way, transporting us to this world of Jumas Marruás living alone in the middle of the bush. fighting for the simple right to be left alone by Joves, Leontius and company.
