Tom Welling is finally back on television. After the parenthesis in Lucifer and the great notoriety acquired with Smallville, the actor is ready for a new television adventure with supernatural accents.
Tom Welling hasn’t appeared consistently on the big and small screen. He rose to popularity with Smallville, where he played a very young Clark Kent discovering his origins. But that chapter is long over (in 2011 to be exact) and Tom Welling tried to shake up his career by joining the cast of Lucifer, where he played Cain. And it looks like he’ll be back to playing up close, as he’s been cast in a new supernatural TV series.
The genre is actually quite specific since it’s the spin-off of Supernatural. The Winchesters is the prequel story to the adventures of Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents. But what role will Tom Welling play in this new adventure on the small screen?

It’s time for Tom Welling to question himself. His entry into the cast was announced at New York Comic Con, as was the role he will play. The actor attended the panel in person, surprising fans, who had no idea of his involvement in the Supernatural prequel. For fans of Smallville, it’s a nice surprise, especially since Tom Welling’s presence on television has been rather sporadic in recent years.
So who will star in The Winchesters? His role is of relative importance: he was assigned the character of Samuel Campbell, the father of Mary and the grandfather of Sam and Dean Winchester who in the original series had the features of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. It was the latter who fought to make a prequel story to Supernatural. It is no coincidence that he appears in the project as an executive producer. The character attributed to Tom Welling has strong relevance in The Winchesters.
He is the father of the protagonist and it is to him that Mary refers when she chooses the name of her son Sam. Moreover, it is Samuel who teaches his daughter everything she knows, how to be a hunter and how to flush out demons. Because yes, the format is quite similar to Supernatural: the difference is that the couple in question is not made up of two brothers, but of two lovers. According to Collider, the role of Tom Welling is recurring, so he will appear frequently throughout the story. Samuel Campbell is defined as a “gruff and pragmatic man, a seasoned hunter who prefers action to words”. He also always drives, like his nephew Dean. When does he go out? The television series is expected on October 11 in the United States. We don’t know in Italy when or where it will arrive, but we do know that Tom Welling’s character will appear in Episode 7.
