Biscuits: they are a tasty food, very common and appreciated by all, young and old for a delicious breakfast, for a snack or for a simple sweet touch after lunch accompanied by a coffee. Biscuits are present in the handouts of every self-respecting Italian and we are absolutely convinced that you who read us have wondered, at least once in your life, if regularly consuming moderate amounts of biscuits, every day, could have negative consequences for your health. Is there reliable scientific data on this or not? Let’s find out together.

Cookies are by no means all the same, starting with the biological and food values. It would be really necessary to read the nutritional values ​​before deciding to buy any food, in which cases should cookies be left on the supermarket shelf? There are two variables that should make us think and they are: the amount of fats and sugars present in our beloved cookies, but in general in all other sugary foods. Why?

In a balanced diet, all macronutrients and micronutrients find their place. Proteins, however, will be in a much lower percentage than fats and carbohydrates, since they perform a plastic function and not an energy one. Our body uses carbohydrates or fats to produce energy, but these must be controlled in terms of quality. Indeed, the sugars and lipids found in refined products are very unlikely to represent a good source of macronutrients.

It is good to avoid continuously consuming biscuits which have, per 100g of product, a quantity of fat greater than 15%: in fact, the closer this percentage is to zero, the better. The question of sugars is on the other hand a little more complex, in fact it depends on our state of health and the objectives that we have set for ourselves; however, it would be totally inadvisable to avoid overusing cookies which contain around 60 grams of refined sugars out of 60/70 grams of carbohydrates.

So, in conclusion, what if you eat cookies every day? Thus, if the product is of excellent quality, absolutely nothing happens to our body but if, on the contrary, it is industrial food, the risk of dangerous consequences could be that of making our diet very poor and especially totally unsuited to a lifestyle. healthy and active life.
