Warner Bros. stresses that this agreement will not be permanent. Only the 2021 films are part of this plan, which is a direct response to the ongoing pandemic. There are no plans to continue this wave in 2022, at least for now.
“These are unprecedented times that require creative solutions, including this new initiative for Warner Bros. Pictures Group, ”said Ann Sarnoff, President and CEO of WarnerMedia. “Nobody wants movies to come back to the big screen more than us. We know new content is the cornerstone of theatrical presentations, but we have to balance that with the fact that most theaters in the United States will likely be operating at reduced capacity throughout 2021. ”
