Warner Bros. cancels ‘New Gods’ adaptation, which would be directed by Ava DuVernay

According to The Hollywood Reporter, two titles from the upcoming DC catalog have been canceled by Warner Bros .: “ New Gods, ” which is said to be under the tutelage of famous director Ava DuVernay, and the “ Aquaman ” spin-off, “ The Trench ”.

“As part of our DC program, some titles, including ‘New Gods’ and ‘The Trench’, have not evolved,” Warner and DC said in an official statement. “We thank our partners Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration during this process, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them in other DC stories. The projects will remain in their hands if they become active again in the future ”.

King and DuVernay worked together on the screenplay.

The story, functioning as a space epic, would bring well-known characters from the pantheon of superheroes, including Darkseid, Great Bard, and Lord Miracle.

The original comics were created by Jack Kirby and took place on the fictional planets New Genesis and Apokolips.

So far, DuVernay has not commented on social media.
