War in Ukraine: ten explosions have been heard since this morning, Monday, October 10, in kyiv.

Videos posted on social networks showed columns of black smoke in different parts of the city. Moscow’s last attack on the Ukrainian capital dates back to June 26.

“The victims were driving or walking in town”

“There are at least five confirmed dead and twelve injured” and these are “civilians who were driving or walking in the city center”. To make a first death toll was the adviser to the Ministry of Interior of kyiv, Anton Gerashchenko.

War in Ukraine, critical infrastructure affected

“Critical infrastructure” has also been affected, as Mayor Vitali Klitschko also confirmed to SkyNews: “There are casualties. All ground services are working,” he added.

Another accredited source, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko, testified that “cars are burning and the windows of houses are smashed. There are dead” and that a missile fell “right in the center of the city”. Another Russian rocket exploded near the monument to Grushevsky.

The streets of kyiv have been closed to traffic. Trains have been suspended on all lines. A children’s playground and a video on social media showing a crater right next to the swings were also affected. The missiles also hit Shevchenkiv and Solomyan districts. Underground metro stations served as shelters.

Escalation of Putin: “He is a terrorist who talks to missiles”

“Numerous Russian attacks across Ukraine,” Kyiv Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba tweeted, confirming Putin’s military escalation, whose “only tactic,” he explains, “is terror on peaceful Ukrainian cities but it will not bring Ukraine down”. It is also his answer to all the acquiescent who want to talk about peace: Putin is a terrorist who speaks with missiles”.

The governor of the Kyiv region Oleksiy Kubela, on social networks, gives an update on the situation: “The air attack continues, I ask everyone to remain calm and stay in shelters. Air defense operates in the area. The air alert is still in progress, let’s hold on”.

Zelensky to his fellow citizens: “Let’s hold on”

A statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who writes on social media, is not long in coming: “They are trying to destroy us and wipe us off the face of the earth. Destroy our people sleeping at home in Zaporizhzhia. Kill the people who go to work in Dnipro and kyiv. The air alarm does not subside throughout Ukraine. There are missiles hitting. Unfortunately, there are dead and injured. Please do not leave the shelters. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. We hold on and we grow strong.”

“The morning is difficult, dozens of missiles, Iranian Shaids. The target is the country’s energy structures. In kyiv and Khmelnytsky regions, Lviv and Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Frankiv regions, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zhutormyr, Kirovohrad, the SOUTH. They want panic and chaos, they want to destroy our energy system. The second target is the population: the time and place of the attacks have been chosen to cause the most damage possible. But Ukraine was there before the enemy appeared, it will be there after him”.

“France is with Ukraine”

Zelensky spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron: “We discussed strengthening our air defences, the need for a firm European and international response, as well as the need to increase pressure on Russia. France is with Ukraine”.

War in Ukraine, Metsola: “Europe will not look away, Moscow will pay”

Minister Kuleba called for the immediate provision of more air defenses. “What is happening in Kyiv right now is nauseating – tweeted the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola – Show the world, once again, the regime we are facing: a regime that targets indiscriminately. A regime that rains terror and death on children. It is criminal. They will be called upon to respond. Ukraine will win. Europe will not look the other way”.
