Marvel has finally made official that the director of the reboot of its new ‘Fantastic Four’, during a panel at D23, will be Matt Shakman, who will direct the fourth film of ‘Star Trek’.

Recalling that ‘Fantastic Four’ had been looking for a new director since the departure of Jon Watts, and ended up finding Shakman as a replacement.

Note that the filmmaker is an old acquaintance of the house of ideas since he was the director of “WandaVision”, one of the studio’s biggest audience successes on Disney+.

Kevin Feige ended up disappointing some fans who had been waiting for the movie’s casting announcement, saying he wouldn’t hear from the ‘Fantastic Four’ again during the panel after the new director was announced. Slated for a November 2024 release, the film will kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This will be the fourth attempt to honor the team’s legacy, following Roger Corman’s immemorial 1994 film, the failed Tim Story mini-franchise launched in 2005 and the 2015 version of Josh Trank, which was slaughtered by the public and by critics.

As of now, there is no further information on the upcoming adaptation.

The latest ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot was one of the biggest critical and audience fiascos in recent history, while the chaotic behind-the-scenes generated one of the most interesting stories in the film industry (especially when it was revealed that one of the actors nearly came to blows with director Josh Trank).

The “Fantastic Four” remake cost $120 million and only grossed $167 million worldwide.
