“Walker”: CW develops a spin-off of the series

According to Deadline, the CW is developing a possible spin-off of “Walker”, entitled “Walker: Independence”.

The derivative series will take place in 1800, serving as a pre-sequence.

The plot will follow Abby Walker, “a wealthy Boston woman whose husband is murdered before her eyes on his journey west.” In her quest for revenge, Abby meets Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable thug in search of a goal. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they meet several eclectic residents fleeing their own troubled past and chasing their dreams.

Jared Padalecki, who stars in the original production, will executive produce alongside Anna Fricke, Seamus Fahey, Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore.

Created by Anna Fricke, the series is a reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger” (1993-2001).

The plot follows Cordell, a man who reunites with his family while investigating crimes in the state’s elite unit. A widower with two children, he returns home to Austin, Texas, after spending years in a very dangerous secret case. Along with his new partner, one of the only women in Ranger history, Walker will face new challenges and together they must become the heroes Texas desperately needs in the contemporary world.

The cast also includes Lindsey Morgan, Violet Brinson, Kale Culley, Jeff Pierre, Cobu Bell, Mitch Pileggi and Keegan Allen.

Jared’s wife Genevieve Padalecki is his fictional companion and brings Cordell Walker’s late wife Emily to life who appears in important flashbacks.
