Robert KingAfter the dozens of missiles and drones launched at Ukraine on October 10, today, October 11, the Russians again attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia overnight, hitting schools, hospitals and homes. Zaporizhzhia has already been shelled both on October 9 and on the night of October 9-10. Among the victims of previous bombings, there are also children.
Anti-aircraft sirens sounded again on the morning of October 11 in Kyiv and across Ukraine. At least the 15 explosions that rocked the city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzheppar announced in a tweet.

She pointed out that the enemy targeted “an educational institution, a medical institution and residential buildings”. And there’s news of a victim. According to the Ukrainian news portal Strana, the emergency service in kyiv has published messages indicating that explosions are very likely during the day. Authorities are urging citizens to stay in shelters and not ignore anti-aircraft alarms.

Quoting the TSN agency, the Russian agency Tass reports that explosions were heard in Ukraine in the kyiv region and in the cities of Rivne (in the west) and Kryvyi Rih (in the south), an urban center from which President Volodymyr Zelensky. . In the region of kyiv, the capital, the armed forces have activated air defense systems. More and more deaths. The death toll from the October 10 Russian missile attacks across Ukraine stands at at least 19 dead and 105 injured. The Kyiv Independent reports it.
Ukraine, G7 summit
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the world to condemn Russia, military support to his country and political intervention to its Western allies. To stop the “terrorism” of Vladimir Putin, more weapons are needed, argues Zelensky, more air defense systems. But above all these Atacms ground-to-ground missiles that the United States are reluctant to send. An urgent meeting of the G7 by videoconference will be held on Tuesday, October 11, from 2 p.m., in the presence of the Ukrainian president himself.

Zelensky-Biden interview
After having received in person, on October 10, the American ambassador in Kyiv, Bridget Brink, the assurances of Joe Biden also arrived at Zelensky. “We will stay with Ukraine – he said – as long as necessary. We will provide the Kyiv forces with the necessary support to defend their country and their freedom”. In the evening, Zelensky and Biden also spoke on the phone. The Ukrainian leader explained that “air defense is currently the number one priority”. The US president responded by promising to provide “advanced air defense systems”.
According to The Washington Post, the latest Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, with the resulting civilian casualties, could also give further impetus to kyiv’s demand for longer-range weapons. A call so far fell on deaf ears, the Biden administration opposing the delivery of the much requested Atacms, Army Tactical Missile System, designed to strike up to 300 kilometers away: four times the range missiles launched by the Himars, already supplied by the United States to the Ukrainian forces.

Nightmare of nuclear escalation
The White House’s refusal has so far been motivated by the need to avoid an escalation of the war. Moscow has already warned to consider the possible supply of Atacms missiles as a “red line” with which Washington would in fact enter the conflict. At this stage, it is not known what may happen: even the use of atomic weapons by Moscow.
In view of Putin’s attacks in recent hours, it is not clear whether the White House will reconsider its position, underlines the Washington Post. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Moscow noted “with regret the large-scale aid to Kyiv”. According to Ryabkov, “an increasing number of Western countries” are involved in the conflict “on the side of the kyiv regime”. And this is because there would be “the training of the personnel of the armed formations of Ukraine on the territory of the countries of the alliance”. But also “the provision of intelligence, real-time satellite images, up to the determination of the objectives of artillery attacks and the planning of the operations of the Ukrainian armed forces”.

The UN and Ukraine
At the UN General Assembly, the West is trying to increase Russia’s degree of international isolation. During these hours, a vote was taken on a resolution promoted by the United States and the European Union regarding the Ukrainian territories that Moscow has unilaterally annexed. The Russian request for a secret vote was not accepted, also due to the abstention of China and the contrary opinion of India. Beijing, like New Delhi, is showing more and more intolerance towards the vagaries of Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. China, in particular, once again calls for de-escalation of the conflict and dialogue between the parties.
Putin meets Erdogan
As for Turkey, the Ankara government has announced that President Recep Tayyp Erdogan will meet Putin on October 12 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. This confirms what Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 10. In other words, a meeting between Putin and Erdogan was possible on the sidelines of the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). An appointment scheduled in Astana precisely on October 12 and 13.
