Two deaths at work in less than a day occurred in Sanremo and Portici.

The first died in the subway station of the city of flowers. He is a 55-year-old man from Treviso, employed by Ivecos, the contracting company outside the Italian rail network, engaged in a night construction site for the maintenance of the railways between Taggia and Ventimiglia.

A fire broke out while he was driving a locomotive

He was driving a locomotive when a fire broke out following a breakdown. The victim was working on the gearbox system of an oil-filled yard locomotive. Following the triggering of the locomotive, a fire broke out and the worker had no escape.

The prosecution has opened an investigation file on the case even if the hypothesis of a crime is not yet known, which will be assessed on the basis of the investigators’ report. The convoy was used for night maintenance of the line and consisted of two diesel locomotives and four wagons. The worker had been working in the province of Imperia for less than three months.

The firefighters arrived on the spot to put out the flames, the 118, the police and the technicians of the Italian railway network. The latter in a press release expressed “his condolences for the victim of the accident whose causes are in progress for the necessary investigations”.

Portici: worker who fell from the third floor of a building

The other worker, on the other hand, died in Portici, in the province of Naples, falling from a three-storey building while laying the sheath on the roof of the sun. He was a fifty-nine-year-old man from Naples. The episode goes back to yesterday, Monday October 10.

Fatal was the impact on the ground, where as he fell he would hit his head and die instantly. When the 118 health workers arrived on the scene, they could only confirm his death. The carabinieri of the company of Torre del Greco (Naples) are investigating the tragedy, coordinated by the Procura di Torre Annunziata. In the coming days, an autopsy will be performed on the body of the worker, to clarify the dynamics of the accident and the causes of death.
