The message instructs them to go home and not return to the office on Friday November 4 as the company makes the cuts. The reaction of former Twitter workers was immediate: at first, the class action – that is, a mass class action lawsuit – against the giant who did not give the right notice. The email, from a generic address under Twitter’s byline, did not mention the total number of layoffs.

“In an effort to put Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce,” it read. “We recognize that this will impact a number of people who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success in the future.” After receiving the email, a group of former Twitter employees filed a class action lawsuit in San Francisco court against Elon Musk’s company.

The former employees accuse the giant of not having received the 60-day notice required by law and of having learned of their dismissal a few hours earlier.
