UK

The United Kingdom (UK), made up of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, is one of Europe’s most visited countries. A large part of the country’s allure comes from its varied landscapes and extensive cultural traditions.

The United Kingdom is home to numerous world-class attractions, from historic manors and castles to cutting-edge museums and galleries.

London

A journey to the United Kingdom (UK) could be planned without seeing London, however this is not recommended. The enormous nation’s capital features many sights to see and luxurious hotels and resorts to stay in.

One of the best things to do in London is to go to the Tower of London to learn more about British history. Highlights of this ancient palace and jail include the interesting armor and weaponry on show in the White Tower, which is over a thousand years old, and the Crown Jewels in the Jewel House, which is located next to the stunning Tower Bridge on the banks of the River Thames.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is often considered to be one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in all of Britain. Edinburgh is perhaps most famous as the location of the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, one of the city’s many well-preserved historic buildings.

The Scottish Crown Jewels are housed in the Royal Palace of this 13th-century royal castle, which sits atop a rocky peninsula overlooking the old city. Stone of Destiny, also called “Stone of Scone”, is very famous and had been kept in London for 700 years, was recently restored to Scotland and is another must-see attraction.

Ancient Roman Bath

Bath is one of the UK’s smaller cities, but it more than makes up for its size with its abundance of attractions. This stunning city was given its current moniker by the Romans, who were drawn to the city’s reputed therapeutic springs.

The water, which comes from three distinct springs at a rate of 275,000 gallons per day and is kept at a constant 46.5 degrees Celsius due to the presence of 43 different minerals, is thought to have healing characteristics.

Visitors can’t take a dip in the historic Roman Baths themselves, but there are plenty of other baths in the area where they can experience the city’s renowned waters, including the world-class Thermae Bath Spa.

Visit Ancient Stonehenge

Stonehenge, one of the oldest World Heritage Sites, has been visited by worshippers for over 4,500 years. Although many still hold fast to the theory that it was built as a place of worship, today’s visitors are more likely to be tourists awed by the structure’s impressive size.

It’s a massive complex with a brand new tourist center and a total size of almost 20 square kilometers. Not only can you learn interesting details about how Stonehenge was built, but also about its subsequent development. A ticket for the day on which you have to visit should be purchased in advance.

Here you can find a brief Travel Guide to Stonehenge Monument.

Royal Windsor

Windsor is a historic town just a short ride on the train west of London, and it has many exciting attractions for visitors. Windsor is home to the magnificent Windsor Castle, the most well-known of the UK’s royal castles, and to a number of wonderful medieval half-timbered homes that line its charming old cobblestone laneways.

Over the course of a thousand years, British monarchs have made this magnificent fortress their summer home. It is the largest inhabited fortress in the world and was begun by William the Conqueror in 1078.

Idyllic England

The stunning Cotswolds, an area of England spanning over a whopping 1,287 square kilometers of unspoiled countryside, is without a doubt one of the most photographed places in all of Britain. Because of its unparalleled pastoral scenery, it is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful sites in the United Kingdom.

The Cotswolds encompass the finest regions of the English counties of Oxfordshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Wiltshire, Warwickshire, and are conveniently located close to London and the major tourist destinations of Bath and Bristol.

Final Words

There are so many other places in the UK and especially in London which you should visit on your first family tour. But for now, we have selected the best places which have some historical importance as well for your first family vacation in the United Kingdom (UK).
