Tom King, acclaimed screenwriter for DC and also for the canceled film ‘New Gods’, has finally had the opportunity to comment on his work, responding even if he believes in the realization of the work in the future.
“Oh, I mean, anything is possible. I loved this script. I loved working with Ava (DuVernay). It was really amazing. She’s a genius storyteller. So, you never know. I don’t want to close any doors. Right now I feel like I’m incredibly busy,” King told ComicBook.com.
“It would be hard to write an entire movie now. But, that script was never read. The movie was scrapped because it conflicted with studio plans at the time. Who knows? When new plans will emerge, maybe the opportunity (to resume) will present itself. This is pure speculation. I have no knowledge. I would love to work with Ava again.
Director Ava DuVernay also spoke about the suspension of the project, thanking screenwriter Tom King and thanking them for the time they worked together.

Tom, I loved writing NEW GODS with you. I’m upset that the saga of Barda, Scott, Granny, Highfather and The Furies is ending like this. Diving into Kirby’s Fourth World has been the adventure of a lifetime. It cannot be removed. Thank you for your friendship. And remember… #DarkseidIs pic.twitter.com/XyyIjcB8Wv
