Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was Spider-Man (Tom Holland) mentor between “Captain America: Civil War” (2016) and “Avengers: Ultimatum” (2019).
Long enough to strengthen the friendship between Downey Jr. and Holland, so much so that the interpreter of Tony Stark gave Holland the original Iron Man helmet.
During an interview with First We Feast, Holland revealed he won the giveaway
“My favorite memory was given to me – well, it was not given to me, it was given to my little brother, Paddie. When ‘Black Panther’ was released, Robert Downey Jr. was recording ‘Doolittle’ in London. And he stayed near me. And he invited us to a ‘Black Panther’ exhibit at his home. And Paddie is running around the room, and he’s holding the original Iron Man helmet, and Downey gave it to him as a gift, but it doesn’t matter because we live together, so I consider it a gift from my part.
He went on to say that it was a great honor to have received a part of the film that gave birth to the MCU.
“This headset is really special to me because I was lucky enough to get into the MCU, but I got in too late. And that memory, which comes from the original film, marks the birth of this incredible world created by Kevin Feige and Marvel – and Downey and Jon Favreau kicked off. So to have something from this movie is a huge honor.
