“The Wheel of Time” is the latest original production from Amazon Studios and is based on the acclaimed writings of author Robert Jordan.

Described as one of the most popular and enduring fantastic literary sagas of all time, the work has sold over 90 million copies. Set in an epic, sprawling world where magic exists and only a few women are allowed access, the story follows Moiraine Demodred, a member of an incredibly powerful women’s organization called Aes Sedai. In the story, Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike plays Moiraine Damodred, also known as Moiraine Sedai. The character, one of the protagonists of the novels, is an Aes Sedai, that is, a woman endowed with magical abilities that arouse fear in anyone who dares to cross her path. In her first novel, Moiraine arrives at Champ d’Emond and the town of Dois Rios and finds herself at the center of enormous problems that foreshadow the destruction or salvation of the world she knows. One of her most remarkable abilities is her ability to heal others and manipulate the winds.

One of the other protagonists of the plot is Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), a character who officially opens the first volume of the saga. Rand is a farmer and lives with his father, Tam, in the small village of Two Rivers. Living day after day in a normality that does not promise much, his daily life changes when he crosses the road to Moiraine and discovers that he is being hunted by the forces of Darkness. Set out in search of knowledge and what is needed to survive, Rand is closely tied to a prophecy that could bring chaos or peace to the world.

Marcus Rutherford plays Perrin Aybara in the series. Perrin also lives in Deux Rivières and is recruited by Moiraine to fight the forces of evil.
