Also, Styles’ acting is unconvincing as he doesn’t give off the feeling of being gay repressing his true self.

Check out the reviews:

“Despite all the anticipation that this will be a huge opportunity for Styles, the lack of depth in his performance and the film itself make it clear that the plot won’t leave the impression it intended.” – Collider.

“‘My Policeman’ is superficial gay representation, lacking in visual imagination and begging for better performance.” – RogerEbert.com.

“A work of relentless cliches that takes its mundane elements so seriously that it comes across as a limited parody.” – The daily beast.

“Do we really need another reminder that times were bad (and still are) for gay people? Do we need another obvious movie about the heartache of love? – IndieWire.

“The styles may look like the beautiful movie star he’s aggressively shoved about with his matinee idol straight hair still in place, but he’s all built up and lacking in conviction, an entertainer as uncertain of his abilities as we are.” – The Guardian.

“‘My Policeman’ is a respectful drama, and somewhat quite watchable, but incapable of creating an emotional charge around its exploration of the mysterious lines of love and friendship.” – The Hollywood journalist.

“’My policeman’ tries to make sense of things, but it rarely comes to life. Perfectly watchable and it has its merits, but it ends up being a bit forgettable because it can’t get past the stereotypical narrative. – Awards Watch.

Michael Grandage of the “Genius” anthology is directing production from a script by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (“Philadelphia”).

Greg Berlanti joins as producer alongside husband Robbie Rogers and Sarah Schechter.
