According to Deadline, Leigh Janiak, head of the “Street of Fear” trilogy, will direct two episodes of “The Staircase”, the new detective series from HBO Max.
The production, which will consist of eight episodes, will be based on the true story of Michael Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife.
The series is titled “The Staircase” because Peterson claimed that his wife Kathleen fell down the stairs of their house, although many believe he beat her to death.
The plot will explore the life of Michel Peterson (Colin Firth), his extended family in North Carolina, and the alleged death of his wife, Kathleen (Toni Collette).
Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn are responsible for the project.
The cast will also include Rosemarie DeWitt, Juliette Binoche, Parker Posey, Odessa Young, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Dane DeHaan, Olivia DeJonge, Sophie Turner, Michael Stuhlbarg and Tim Guinee.
