‘The Powerpuff Girls’: Donald Faison to play Professor Utonio in live-action series

According to TVLine, Donald Faison (‘Emergence’) has joined the cast of ‘Powerpuff’, a live-action series based on the animated film ‘The Powerpuff Girls’, which is being developed by The CW.

The actor will play Professor Utônio, described as “quirky, jovial and narcissistic, Professor Drake is a scientific genius immensely proud of the three extraordinary girls he created in his laboratory. Faced with a midlife crisis, he is determined to restore his relationship with his daughters, now adults.

Chloe Bennet (‘Agents of SHIELD‘), Dove Cameron (‘Descendants’) and Yana Perrault will play Florzinha, Lindinha and Docinho respectively.

Diablo Cody (“Hell Girl“) and Heather Regnier are responsible for the script for the pilot episode.

Based on the Cartoon Network animated series, the production will feature the trio of heroines in their twenties, who now regret having spent their childhood fighting criminals. The question is whether they will swallow their resentment to come together and save the world when it needs it most.

Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden will be the executive producers.

Created by Craig McCracken, the original animation followed three students created by Professor Utônio when he accidentally mixed sugar, spices and everything good with the X element.
