According to TVLine, creator Seth MacFarlane will release a dropped Season 3 episode of “The Orville” in book form, titled “The Orville: Sympathy for the Devil.”
Originally developed as a season three episode, the script could not be filmed due to complications from the COVID pandemic.
Written by MacFarlane, the book takes place immediately after the events of the current cycle. In the plot, Captain Ed Mercer and his team are confronted with the most nefarious of human ideologies, where they must “resolve dilemmas of who to blame for wrongdoings, whether real…or imagined”.
“Due to the COVID pandemic, we had to remove this episode of ‘The Orville: New Horizons’. This is an experimental story. Rather than shelving it completely, I decided to adapt it under the form of a book,” McFarlane said.
The book will be released on July 19. Check coverage:
