Nicolas Cage returns to the cinema with a western film: here is the trailer for The Old Way.

Without a doubt Nicolas Cage is one of the most famous characters in the world of cinema. Active since the 80s, he has a very long career and has starred in many films, all of different genres, from romantic to dramatic, from dystopian to supernatural. After Le Talentueux Monsieur C, he will soon be back with a genre he has never tackled before, the western. The film will be called The Old Way and will be released in January 2023.

The actor will star and star as Colton Briggs, a retired man who was once one of the Old West’s most ruthless and feared bandits. After his wife is killed by a criminal, he decides to start over with his old life and, together with his 12-year-old daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), whom he personally trains, begins to plan his revenge. The film expands on the bond between father and daughter, who immediately shows an eagerness to learn whatever he is willing to teach her.

The actor said he was very proud to have known this genre and to have participated in the film. “After 43 years of cinema, it is only now that I am invited to join the important and historic genre of the western. […] Briggs and Miller’s complex characters excite me and push me to act in new ways.”

The Old Way will be released in theaters in early January 2023. The film was written by Carl W. Lucas and directed by Brett Donowho and promises to be very violent, with decidedly explicit scenes. However, it won’t just be a splash, but a much more complex film. From the trailer, in fact, it is clear that it will also focus on the psychological point of view of the characters. In particular, the character of the girl changes significantly after the death of her mother.

The cast includes other high-profile actors. In addition to the very young Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who will test herself with a decidedly difficult role, we will also see Noah Le Gros, Clint Howard, Kerry Knuppe, Nick Searcy and Shiloh Fernandez.

Audiences were definitely impressed after news broke of this new movie that Nicholas Cage will be starring in. Over all these years he has proven time and time again that he is a very versatile performer, but how will he fare with a traditional, niche genre like the western?
