Robert KingHalloween is over. October too. We’ve had some great horror releases both in theaters (Halloween Ends, Morte Morte Morte) and streaming (Brutal Nights, Abracadabra 2 and Werewolf in the Night). Now, however, we welcome the prestigious season of cinema, with the famous works that will seek a place in the eternity of the seventh art with the awards – even the most important, the Oscars. It is from November that films destined for such awards begin to appear, that is, especially this month, December and January. However, November also holds one of the most anticipated features of 2022, which fans had to wait impatiently until the end of the year to finally experience it. It’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to 2018’s mega-hit, which not by chance reached the Oscars that year with a few nominations, including Best Picture. Will the sequel repeat such feats? Black Panther 2 is undoubtedly the biggest and most anticipated release of November 2022 – but the month brings even more good things. Check it out below and sign up.
The first weekend of November is tomorrow, the 3rd, but on that date we won’t have a really meaningful big-screen debut. So it’s an opportunity for moviegoers to chase after what they missed in October and wait until the 10th for the premiere of one of the biggest films of the year, the aforementioned second Black Panther. The long promises to be a real phenomenon and could claim the throne of Top Gun: Maverick as the biggest hit in 2022. But the Marvel film did not win the game, because it must work around the absence of its protagonist. , the late Chadwick Boseman. On the other hand, one of the welcome additions is Tenoch Huerta as the undersea prince Namor.
Produced by Universal Pictures, it is the new work of cult filmmaker James Gray. It’s one of the strong contenders for the 2023 Oscar nominations, with a coming-of-age plot of a boy from his family. It’s a personal story for the director, who draws heavily on his own experiences for the film. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain. When it premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Armageddon Time received a standing ovation for 7 minutes.

This year, Steven Spielberg’s timeless classic, ET – The Extra-Terrestrial, celebrates its 40th anniversary. For those who grew up in the 1980s, it seems like just yesterday that we first saw the cutest little space creature in the movies. ET is one of the rare cases of a movie that stuck around for eternity, and one that remains as popular as ever even after 40 years of its release. And the feat is even more impressive when you consider that ET didn’t become a franchise, or even have a sequel – the feat was achieved by its only movie. Of course, such an important date called for a new release on the big screen.
Bardo – False chronicle of some truths
Speaking of films destined for the Oscars, the new work of Mexican Alejandro G. Iñárritu, winner of the Oscar for best director two years in a row, for Birdman and O Regresso. His new film, Bardo, is set to premiere on Netflix, but before that it will hit theaters, including here in Brazil, distributed by O2 Play, precisely because it’s targeted for another Oscar. Spoken entirely in Spanish, his new work is a Mexican production that is a kind of autobiography, about a renowned journalist returning to his hometown. Nominations are expected in the foreign production category, and perhaps also best film.
Brazilian production, this film is a good tip for all those who love the musical style of rock n roll and also the nostalgia of the 80s. The film is also a musical biography, but not of an artist but of a radio station , Radio Fluminense , the first in Brazil specializing in rock, appeared in 1982. The feature film is directed by Thomas Portella and stars Johnny Massaro.
Pinocchio – by Guillermo del Toro
Another Netflix production appears on the list of movie premieres in November. And again brought to screens across the country by O2 Play. In 2022, we got Disney’s live-action version of one of its most beloved early animations, which helped cement the studio into the powerhouse it is today: Pinocchio. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, the film was not well received by critics and audiences. On the other hand, this new animated version with a dark look, in the style of director Guillermo del Toro, has everything to redeem the character with a realization unlike any other where we saw the wooden puppet who dreamed of being a real boy. . Will Oscar come?
Speaking of Disney, this year we will have yet another animation from the studio, which seems to have been “forgotten at the barbecue”. Usually, when we have a Disney animation, the hype is immense and the hype around such a movie seems endless. Since the pandemic, it seems to have slowed down a bit. Even so, we still had hits at the level of Soul and Enchantment – movies that got people talking. So it’s at least strange that nobody talks about Mundo Estranho as much as they should. The plot pays homage to the classics of the science fiction genre of the 1950s and 1960s, the cradle and golden age of such productions.
The spin-off Fantastic Beasts franchise may not have the same charm and may not be doing quite so well on its legs, even though it has three films released on the big screen. But the original remains incomparable and a source of passion for fans to this day, especially those who grew up with the films of the most famous wizard of the seventh art: Harry Potter. The magic really started on the big screen in 2001, when The Philosopher’s Stone premiered and brought him back to being a kid. It was like facing a modern-day Wizard of Oz. Last year the first film celebrated its 20th anniversary and of course it was re-released in theaters. This year it’s the turn of Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter’s second and even darker feature film.
