According to Deadline, Jeffrey Pierce, who voiced the character of Tommy in the original game, was cast for the adaptation of “The Last of Us”.

Ironically, the actor will play a different character on the show. He will bring Perry, a rebel in the quarantine zone, to life.

Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) will respectively play the roles of Joel and Ellie in the production. The cast will also include Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Con O’Neil.

Kantemir Balagov will be responsible for directing the pilot episode, with Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi also confirmed to direct other episodes.

The plot takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, a surly survivor, is hired to get 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What started out as a small job quickly turns into a brutal and painful journey as the two have to cross the United States and depend on each other for survival.

The series was created by Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”), who is also screenwriter and executive producer of the adaptation alongside Neil Druckmann.

For now, production does not yet have a release forecast.
