Filmmaker Rian Johnson, in a recent interview he gave to Variety, discussed a possible return to the “Star Wars” universe, after directing the great “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. And ended up being pretty optimistic about it.

Johnson said he still had hopes of returning to the Star Wars universe one day, noting that directing a Star Wars feature film was the highlight of his life as a director.

“Making Star Wars was the highlight of my life and yet I pray to God that I will get back to it one day,” Johnson said.

He said he had been confirmed to make a trilogy in “a corner of the Star Wars galaxy never before explored”, but has since dedicated himself to spy films in the “Knives Out” franchise. We just have to wait.

In the book, Luke Skywalker’s quiet, solitary life is turned upside down when he meets Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. His desire to learn the Jedi way forces Luke to make a decision that will change his life forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for galactic supremacy.
