According to Deadline, Mark Consuelos (“Riverdale”) has joined the cast of “The Girls On The Bus,” which is being developed by HBO Max.

The actor will play a Hollywood star who joins the presidential race after a Twitter poll found 46% of Americans would vote for him, regardless of affiliation.

Created by Amy Chozick and Julie Plec (“The Originals”), the series is based on the book “Boys on the Bus” by Tim Crouse.

The plot follows Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist), a journalist who put her life on hold for the chance to cover the presidential campaign for a newspaper. Eventually, she befriends three other contestants, Grace (Carla Gugino), Lola (Natasha Behnam), and Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a family at the forefront of the biggest dramatic event in the city: the battle for the White House.

The cast will also include Brandon Scott, Griffin Dunne, Leslie Fray, PJ Sosko, Becky Ann Baker, Kyle Vincent Terry, Tala Ashe and Richard Bekins.
