‘The Fabelmans’: Steven Spielberg was THRILLED by Paul Dano’s performance

‘The Fabelmans’, an autobiography directed and written by Steven Spielberg, was a big hit after premiering at the Toronto Film Festival and will soon be released in cinemas around the world.

Now, in an interview with THR, the director has commented on the production’s stellar casting and praised Paul Dano, who did a fantastic portrayal of Arnold Spielberg, the filmmaker’s father.

“I certainly didn’t want to go into my first meeting with Paul and be a little familiar. But there was something so reminiscent of my father. ten minutes later [chamada de] Zoom, I was choking. I was holding back my emotions,” he said.

The film will be released in theaters nationwide on February 9, 2023.

The cast is formed by Sam Rechner, who will play a classmate of Spielberg when he was younger; Julia Butters, who will be one of the director’s sisters; Seth Rogen as the director’s favorite uncle; and Michelle Williams, who will be a figurative version of her mother.

Legendary filmmaker David Lynch will also appear in the feature film.

Jeannie Berlin, Hadassah Fabelman, Robin Bartlett, Keeley Karsten and others round out the cast.

The Amblin Entertainment production marks Spielberg’s first time acting as a screenwriter since “AI – Artificial Intelligence” (2001).

The filmmaker takes on the role in partnership with Tony Kushner, who collaborated with him on writing the screenplay for the biopic “Lincoln” (2012).

The two will also serve as producers along with Kristie Macosko Krieger.

John Williams, known for his work on works such as ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Harry Potter’, will be responsible for the score (one of his last alongside ‘Indiana Jones 5’ before retiring).
