‘The Continental’: Amazon Prime acquires international streaming rights to spin-off series ‘John Wick’

According to ComicBook.com, Amazon Studios has acquired the international rights to “The Continental,” a spin-off series from the acclaimed “John Wick” action franchise.

Previously announced as a regular miniseries, production has been revamped into a three-episode series, with each chapter running like a movie. The story will focus on the hotel of assassins which became very popular in the original work.

The cast includes Colin Woodell, Mishel Prada, Hubert Point Du-Jour, Jessica Allain, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Jeremy Bobb, Katie McGrath, Ray McKinnon, Adam Shapiro, Mark Musashi and Marina Mazepa. Mel Gibson has been confirmed in the spin-off as the mysterious character Cormac.

With approximately 90 minutes each, the budget for the chapters is expected to be around US$20 million.

Albert Hughes (“The Book of Eli”) will direct two of the three episodes.
