Since appearing in Season 2 of “The Mandalorian”, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) has been seen several times without his helmet, as his armor was stolen by the Jawas and sold to Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant).
However, filmmaker Joe Johnston, co-creator of the character’s look, said it was a mistake to reveal his face.
In an interview with The New York Times, he claimed that much of the success surrounding Fett was the mystery behind the accessory.
Additionally, he argued that the helmet suggested that Boba could be anyone wearing his armor, not just the Jango Fett clone.
“I never wanted them to show Fett’s face. I never wanted them to show the actor living the character. Taking off his helmet puts an end to the mystery. Originally, before they took off the helmet, it could have been anyone.
He continued:

“I know we can imagine how he looked because of Jango, but that doesn’t mean his clone was the one wearing the armor.”
