Steven Spielberg is certainly one of the most famous directors of all time. But who are the most emblematic characters in your films?

Without a doubt, Steven Spielberg is one of Hollywood’s most talented and beloved directors. His career has continued successfully for more than forty years and during this long period he has shot some of the greatest masterpieces in the history of contemporary cinema. At the moment, he seems to be busy writing Superman 2: there are no official statements yet, but it seems that he could participate in the project.

It’s not just the director’s films that are remembered, but also the characters and actors who played them. Many protagonists have entered our hearts and thus contributed to giving a well-defined character to Spielberg’s cinema.

Steven Spielberg: the ten most famous characters in his films

The great Steven Spielberg started directing in 1971 and has since released one masterpiece after another. Proceeding in chronological order, among the characters who have contributed to mark his cinema, we cannot fail to mention the researcher Chief Brody (Roy Schieder) in Jaws.

In Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) appears Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss), an electrical engineer whose life changes forever after an absurd discovery. Still on the theme of space and extraterrestrials, we cannot fail to mention Elliott (the very young Henry Thomas), the very kind and courageous boy from ET.

During the 1980s, the director worked on the Indiana Jones saga, made unforgettable by Harrison Ford. Also during these years, he continues to explore children’s cinema with The Goonies: one of the most beloved characters is undoubtedly the brilliant Data (Ke Huy Qan). The Jew Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) was also fundamental in Schindler’s List in 1993. Then we come to another of the director’s most emblematic sagas: Jurassic Park. Unforgettable characters are plentiful here, but one of the most beloved is scientist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough).

Let’s come to the 2000s: here is the very young cyborg David (Haley Joel Osment) who wants nothing more than to become a “real boy” in AI – Artificial Intelligence and Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise), who must defend his children after an alien invasion in war of the worlds. Finally, let’s mention one of the director’s most underrated movies, 2018’s Ready Player One. The film isn’t one of the most famous, but Tye Sheridan’s (Mark Rylance) character certainly touched hearts greatly.
